Who we are

Hijas del Mar was founded by Suri in 2018. Suri’s vision is to empower and unify girls through surfing, skate and community

Suri is a local surf guide in El Salvador that has created surfing trips that are designed to bring women together, create memories to last a lifetime, and use the profits to support the girls in the project.

OUR Main goal; Provide equipment for each of our girls to give them the opportunity to grow in the surfing world as professional or freestyle surfers

At the same time, we use donations and supplies from our sponsors to help provide the girls with health care, that’s mean, check-ups with a doctor and educational supplies for school.

Objetives

Bring opportunities to girls in vulnerable coastal communities in El Salvador through surfing. Giving them access to surf education and equipment so they can learn and enjoy surfing and the ocean safely, while becoming a part of this beautiful sport and contributing with the girl´s empowerment and to their community.

To share our knowledge and love of surfing with all girls and women from around the world. To empower those around us to be brave and bold. To use our resources to support girls from vulnerable environments and to cultivate their love of surfing.

What are we doing?

Who We Work With

Local Girls from the coastal Community
With freestyle surfers.
With Surfers seeking to be apart of the Salvadoran Surf Federation.
With El Zonte Learning School using its facilities for Surfskate and hang.
With Volunteers that are traveling seasonal and looking to help the community some how 🙂

Main Activities

Sunday short surfing technique workouts.
Small training sessions that integrate both the practice of surfing with other disciplines (yoga, physical preparation, surf sessions, and more).
Lessons and technical analysis of surfers either in collaboration with trained people.
Exclusive annual surfing competition for women and girls in various categories.

Our Plans

Provide sponsorship for each of our girls to give them the opportunity to grown in the surf world as professional or freestyle surfers.
To get a surfboard for each of one of the member.
To have a community house at the beach where we can have our meetings and feel safe.

Why do we need such specific surf equipment?

As we work with the hijas del mar, their skills improve rapidly and they outgrow their equipment. By providing them with the tools they need for their skill level, they are able to continue to grow and accel. All donated equipment is used as we work with girls of all skill levels.

Surf Trip

We tried to take the girls to surf every surf spot in El Salvador, to know the difference and type of waves to where we are exposed.

Surf Girls Contest

Once a year we do a surf girls contest, just for fun, just because we want to be JUST GIRLS IN THE WATER.

Surf & Skate

We believe that skateboarding in the carver style improves our surfing, so do regulary skate sessions learning more and more.
